It’s a one-pot meal that’s quick to prepare, easy to customize, and irresistibly delicious. Pair it with crusty bread or crackers for a satisfying meal that’s ready in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 strips of turkey bacon, diced
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup corn (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 medium potatoes, diced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chives for garnish

Instructions

  • Cook the Bacon: In a large pot over medium heat, cook the diced turkey bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the rendered grease in the pot.
  • Sauté Aromatics: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot. Sauté for 3-4 minutes, or until the onion is softened and fragrant.
  • Add Potatoes and Corn: Stir in the diced potatoes, chicken broth, and corn. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender.
  • Cook the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the pot and simmer until they turn pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the Cream: Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream. Mix well and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Garnish and Serve: Ladle the chowder into bowls and garnish with crispy bacon and chopped chives. Serve warm with crusty bread or crackers.

Notes

  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop.
  • Freezing: To freeze, omit the cream during initial preparation and add it when reheating. Freeze for up to 2 months.
  • Variations: Add diced carrots or celery for extra vegetables, or replace shrimp with scallops for a seafood twist.
